I love to start each week by pausing to celebrate my three biggest three wins from the previous week! It’s a simple habit I’ve developed that shifts my energy, busts up negative thought patterns and gives me a rush of joy as I prepare for the week ahead.
Win #1: Savored The Sunrise
I’m neither a nature lover nor a morning person, but the sunrises here in Playa Del Carmen are both serene and stunning. This week I decided to set a goal of getting up early to thoroughly enjoy the sights and sounds of the sun rising over the Caribbean Sea. I’m so glad I did and I was delightfully surprised to see how many couples were sitting on blankets on the beach enjoying it together. I’m calling it a win because I love to set (and meet) micro-goals for myself, I’m working towards better appreciating natural beauty wherever I am in the world, and it was truly magnificent (more so than my amateur video can truly capture).
Win #2: Completed our “big book”
We’ve been carrying around this “big book” since 2010, writing down our biggest hopes, dreams, and desires. Each year when we have our annual retreat this big book is where we start and where we finish our planning process. Needless to say, a lot has changed in our lives since 2010! I love seeing how many of our dreams have come true and how they have evolved over time. This week we realized our beloved big book is complete because we ran out of pages. I’m sad to see it end, but I consider it a win because we have a complete record of the past 8 years. And it feels like perfect timing to start a new “big book” as we are beginning (what we hope will be) the best chapter of our lives.
Win #3: Coming Out of My Blogger Shell
Even though I’ve published extensively in my academic career and then over 100 columns as an entrepreneur, there’s something about a blog that just feels different. It’s more personal, more revealing, and more vulnerable. Truth be told, I’ve been writing but not telling anyone but my family and a few friends about the blog. This week I decided to come out of my blogger shell by posting a link to my most recent post on Facebook and Instagram. While it definitely increased my traffic from nothing to something, I’m calling it a win because I was able to push through my fears and limiting beliefs in order to do so. I’m so glad I did!
As always, it feels great to start the week with a wave of positive energy, radiant gratitude, and a deep sense of joy for last week’s wins.
But don’t trust me, try it yourself and see what happens!
