Weekly Wins: Angels, Learning, and Fitness

It’s Friday and that means it’s time to close the week with one of my favorite Joy Habits: reflecting on my weekly wins.

This week was full of ups and downs, but I’m going to keep choosing to end each week by celebrating the wins.

Win #1: Fast Company Feature

This week, I appeared in a Fast Company story about Pipeline Angels. Participating in this organization was one of my first experiments when I retired. I enjoyed learning how to become an angel investor, co-hosting pitch summit in New York City and New Orleans, and investing in an array of awesome women-led start-ups.

Win #2: Golfing With My Favorite Teacher

My husband and I shipped our golf clubs to California and had not used them even once. But this week, we not only got a chance to play, but our favorite teacher from Detroit was in town so we got to have a ‘playing lesson’ (we played 9 holes, he coached us along the way)! There’s nothing like having your teacher helping you and teaching you on every single swing for 9 holes! I’m considering it a win because it’s important to have active leisure in retirement. And I love learning something new that allows me to enjoy the beautiful California weather this time of year.

Win #3: Upleveling My Fitness

I enjoy running, walking, and golf, but I find any exercise that involves going to a gym intimidating. In January, my husband tried to get me to work out at Gold’s Gym. But when I went for a visit, I looked around for two minutes and ran out the front door! I realized “intimidating” is a story that no longer serves me. So I hired a trainer and have been working out 3 times a week for the past two weeks. I’m considering it a win because I am greatly enjoying something that I almost ran away from!

That’s it, 10 minutes flat!

That’s all it takes to elevate your wins, release all the things that didn’t go according to plans, and move into the weekend in a joyful spirit of gratitude.

But don’t believe me! Just set a timer for 10 minutes. Then try to pause, remember and reflect on your wins.

Let me know if it shifts your energy!
